Waltraud Rieken

If German graphic designer Waltraud Rieken’s life were an object, it would probably be a compass: she is based in the east, her home is in the west and her heart is forever captivated by the north. A junior art director by day and an illustrator by night, creative energy runs through her life like the ebb and flow of the tide. Inspired by moments of happiness and sounds of music, her ideas take form with a little help from her creative companions: indian ink, a paint brush and an artist's pen. Clients like Bloem + Vos and Jever have definitely helped put her work on the map. Now she is just waiting for the wind to fill her sails and whisk her across the Atlantic to fulfill her biggest dream: to design a cover for The New Yorker.
